always check your candy,and just have fun!!!
Buy lots more candy than you expect to need to give out. Then when only one trick-or-treater shows up all night you’ve made out like a bandit.
Check weather forecast- not just rain, but temperatures. You do NOT wanna walk outside in chilly temps or wind if your costume is silk!
Definitely wear some white clothing or carry a light so people can see you better while trick or treating!
Keep in mind your costume could get blown around by the wind.

Go to the affluent neighborhoods or middle-class ones with decorations for best results.
My best trick or treating tip is to go to a trunk or treat event either as a volunteer (no kids) or with your kids.. Safer and makes you feel great!
After dark, kids should have a flashlight or glow stick with them, and some reflective tape incorporated onto their costume !
My family has found that the best events are held at local churches. It’s so much more than candy. It usually involves food, hayrides, carnival games, jump houses and giveaways. And all in a family friendly environment.

My best tip is to take a flashlight. It will be dark and a flashlight will come in handy! 🙂
Remember to teach your children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them & put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.

I don’t have any tips. I’m a senior living in an upstairs apartment. I haven’t had any children come to my door in 30 years.
Always keep an extra bag in the vehicle. If yours starts getting full, dump it so you can keep going. Thank you

Always go with a group so someone doesn’t try to steal your candy.
I always told our kids to stick to neighbor hoods they knew.

Look for the porch lights being on, decorations, trick or treat in groups .
When handing out candy, have gummy bears or other treats for babies and toddlers.

Manners can get you more candy and in the end, everyone wins when you get a smile.
Take a responsible adult with the kids.
As a parent to a teen my trick or treating tip is for them to practice good manners, wear a great costume, stay safe, and have fun. Let’s not make them grow up too soon!

Make sure to tell your kids not to eat anything until it is checked by an adult. Better safe than sorry.
i live in very rural area n the ladies n men here at schools lots and business lots plan what they call trunk or treat where if u dont have a lot of trick or treaters u can go there take ur costume and decor and candy n give out candy all kinds of people do it at one time its fun. but personally i love to spread the artificial cobwebs on my porch n put the lil spider rings in them n let the kiddos get a few off it they seem to love that part. n i love to give out pencils crayons n erasers n fun things instead of candy sometimes too or a mix of the two candy n fun stuff dollar tree is wonderful to get all that stuff
Be polite. Say thank you! Bring gloves if it’s cold in your area. Have an easy dinner in the crockpot. Turn off lights when you are done giving out candy.
My tip for trick or treaters-be polite! I’ve seen too many kids (and adults!) demanding treats-ask nicely!

I don’t trick or treat any more and it’s hit or miss with anyone actually coming – but I keep something on hand just in case but I make sure it’s something I like too ;>
No real tips, but just to make sure you always check your children’s candy before they eat it.

When I was a kid, my parents hated taking us Trick or Treating. Instead, they would give each of us $10 and take us to the grocery store where we could pick out whatever candy we wanted. We always ended up with a huge bag of our favorite candy and never felt like we were missing out on Trick or Treating. If you don’t want to take your young kids Trick or Treating, then this method of bribing them might work to keep them home.
Be generous if you are handing out candy. its only once a year and the kids look forward to it so much! Decades later, I still remember how thrilled & appreciative I was of that one person on the block that handed out full sized candy bars on Halloween.
Wear good walking shoes!
I don’t really have a tip, except for getting chocolate rather than candy.
Make certain that child can see if wearing a mask, but better to use makeup for facial design. Also be certain that there is something reflective and easy to see (ie, not hidden in folds of clothing) on their costume.
Pace yourself and wear comfortable shoes.
My tip is to avoid homemade treats and only stick with candy that is store bought.
Make sure your costume is comfortable or at the very least not too uncomfortable. Sometimes a costume can make you sweat, blister your feet, or make you itch from the material. Bring a flashlight and a bottle of water to stay hydrated along the way.

Work out the route you are taking beforehand!
Consider throwing a party with a candy buffet if folks in your neighborhood/area don’t hand out candy, so you don’t waste the whole evening trying to find participating houses or trunk-or-treat events open to the public.
Look for a line of houses that all have lights on! Some streets only have one or two houses that are passing out candy and it’s not worth running down there when you’re trying to go to as many houses as the kids want lol.
we have a flash light on a string so my son can wear it, and we walk with him in between us, its so busy and it would be so easy for something to happen.

Make sure you have an umbrella(just in case).
Have bandaides on you for the inevitable trips because of costumes.

It’s been so long since I’ve gone trick-or-treating with the kids. I’ll just say have fun! No matter what the weather. The kids will have great memories of these times.
We always just go where we know the people.
My sister has given dimes out instead of candy as the child receiving the money can decide what they want to put it towards.

Don’t forget to take pictures, not just a posed shot but some action shots of them walking up to a house, ones that tell a story.
When I was younger, my group of friends and I would all go together as a group. I think this is a much safer option rather being in a small group or with just 1 or 2 people. Especially in todays world- safety is so important!
Halloween is so much fun! We usually give out full-sized candy bars; it’s a family tradition! The looks on our Trick-or-Treaters faces are priceless!

Give us your best Trick or Treating Tip! I am O L D and have not done trick or treating in to many years to count. Live in a senior building so all the trick or treating I get is my great niece. And I know what she likes
Houses that decorate definitely have candy.
