When traveling, it’s easy to forget about your skin.  We plan vacations and make packing lists, because it’s important to remember all the things we need.  But, we often forget that our skin needs love and care.

Summer trips are potentially dangerous for our skin.  How many times have you gone to outdoor places, like amusement parks, sporting events, parks, lakes, or beaches?  These places provide so much fun and are great places to create family memories.  But, they’re also great places to get sunburn.

Make sure that you pack and use a good sunscreen.  You may want a sunscreen for general use as well as one for your face.  You may want a special sunscreen for babies or sensitive skin.  In my family, most of us have sensitive skin.  For this reason we like to use Baby Sunscreen with no fragrance.

Before and after sun exposure, it’s important to use a good moisturizer.  My dermatologist recommends Eucerin Intensive Repair Very Dry Skin lotion for my dry skin.  It can be used all over, even though I like a different lotion for my face.  To prevent having any clogged pores on my face, I love to use Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion.

When traveling in the summer, we wear shorts and want our legs to be smooth and stubble-free.  Having a good razor and cream is important to keep looking good, no matter what we wear!  What types of razors do you like?  One of my favorite brands is Pure Silk, that has great razors and shaving creams for ladies.

To keep your skin really happy, you need to keep it hydrated.  Just like your insides need water, your face does, too.  Drink plenty of water, especially if you’re outdoors.  You can even spritz your face to cool and refresh your skin.  If you do get your skin wet, make sure to reapply sunscreen.  It can be washed off or sweated off and leave your skin unprotected.

Hair needs protection from the sun and chlorine in the pool.  Before swimming, you can spray a leave-in conditioner on your hair to help protect it.  California Baby has a product that’s great for after-the-pool hair.  It removes any chlorine and returns the proper ph to your hair.  To protect your hair from the sun, when not swimming, wear a hat.  A Sun hat with a large brim can also help to protect your face from sunburn.

So, enjoy your trip!  When you’re prepared, you can easily love your skin wherever you may travel.
