Still Hope: Review and Tickets

We’ve all heard about human trafficking and have some knowledge about the horrific problem. I was afraid to watch a movie about it, because I was worried it would be too graphic. When I was offered the chance to preview the movie with Momentum, I knew that I could trust them.

The movie, Still Hope, was a beautiful portrayal of a young girl who was taken, trafficked, and rescued. The young lady was betrayed by a new friend and abused by her captors. The methods of control were cruel and deep, making her too afraid of her captors.

The movie is very discreet about the sexual trafficking, being careful to avoid any video of Hope being sexually assaulted. The film focuses on her psyche and how the experiences took away her identity. After rescue, the movie focuses on the battle for Hope’s mind. Even after she was able to forgive her abusers, she was still mentally tortured. A long-term stay at a volunteer survivor group home was key in her recovery.

The title of the movie, Still Hope, is truly descriptive of the girl’s realization that she is still Hope, knowing that the captors couldn’t steal who she really is. The actress, Luna Rivera, was amazing at bringing this sad to victorious character to life. Movies like this are not usually one’s that I enjoy, but this movie was excellent and I’m happy to recommend it.
