What Do Moms Really Need For Mother’s Day?

As a mother for the last 35 years, my greatest desire for Mother’s Day is to have a break. It’s the one day when I am happy to let other’s wait on me for a change. Mother’s are constantly waiting on others. From the day that my firstborn joined my husband and I, taking care of him took every minute of every day. Whether I was nursing him, bathing him, rocking him, or walking him, he was my constant companion. I loved every minute of it.

As the other children came along, I did the same with each of them. What wonderful days those were. Now, my children are having children. The joy and blessings are huge! I love watching them spend their time doing the same things for their precious bundles.
But, on Mother’s Day I always expect that someone else will feed me and I won’t do any chores. You may think that’s a little selfish, but it’s not. My family appreciates me and love to pamper me on Mother’s Day. I don’t care if we have fancy meals or not, but I love how they take care of me.
What are some of your favorite Mother’s Day happenings over the years. Have you ever had a Mother’s Day picnic? How about a Mother’s Day beach day? I’ve always had Mother’s Day at home. I love breakfast in bed, even if it’s just a bagel or pop-tart. Attending services with my family is the start to a beautiful day. Then, we enjoy a meal together. Sometimes we have take-out and that’s great. Afterwards we may watch a movie or just take naps. One year the boys mentioned a Star Wars marathon, and we all had so much fun!
I hope that you can have a wonderful Mother’s Day with your family! Whether it’s extravagant or a bag of cheeseburgers, what matters is that you enjoy your family.

My Mom is so easy going and does so much for my sister and me, her grands & great grands that I make sure I spend the day with her and either take her out for lunch or cook so she doesn’t have to. Our time with our parents to me are time well spent.
