As a mother for the last 35 years, my greatest desire for Mother’s Day is to have a break. It’s the one day when I am happy to let other’s wait on me for a change. Mother’s are constantly waiting on others. From the day that my firstborn joined my husband and I, taking care of him took every minute of every day. Whether I was nursing him, bathing him, rocking him, or walking him, he was my constant companion. I loved every minute of it.

Family Beach

As the other children came along, I did the same with each of them. What wonderful days those were. Now, my children are having children. The joy and blessings are huge! I love watching them spend their time doing the same things for their precious bundles.

But, on Mother’s Day I always expect that someone else will feed me and I won’t do any chores. You may think that’s a little selfish, but it’s not. My family appreciates me and love to pamper me on Mother’s Day. I don’t care if we have fancy meals or not, but I love how they take care of me.

What are some of your favorite Mother’s Day happenings over the years. Have you ever had a Mother’s Day picnic? How about a Mother’s Day beach day? I’ve always had Mother’s Day at home. I love breakfast in bed, even if it’s just a bagel or pop-tart. Attending services with my family is the start to a beautiful day. Then, we enjoy a meal together. Sometimes we have take-out and that’s great. Afterwards we may watch a movie or just take naps. One year the boys mentioned a Star Wars marathon, and we all had so much fun!

I hope that you can have a wonderful Mother’s Day with your family! Whether it’s extravagant or a bag of cheeseburgers, what matters is that you enjoy your family.

  1. While I have recently lost my mother there are women who are in my life and are mothers that are special to me.

  2. Thanks for sharing the interesting Mother’s Day posts! I’m also hoping to spend Mother’s Day with my children and grandchildren.

  3. As I am sure it is for many others, Mother’s Day is a little bittersweet for me. My mother has been gone for many years, but I can still enjoy the love I receive from family and the progress through the generations for my daughter and granddaughter from their children.

  4. This is by far the most sweetest, loving, thoughtful giveaway I have ever entered! I miss my Mom immensely but I can feel gentle spirit through my just as sweet granddaughters.

  5. My Mom is so easy going and does so much for my sister and me, her grands & great grands that I make sure I spend the day with her and either take her out for lunch or cook so she doesn’t have to. Our time with our parents to me are time well spent.

  6. This is such an amazing way to give back. Thanks for the chance and good luck to everyone! Happy Mother’s Day to everyone too!
