Don’t you love a true story? The only thing better is an underdog story. We love rooting for the classic underdog, especially in sports. This movie is the true story of Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda and how determination, faith, and love gave him the best opportunity in his life. I remember when this was happening and when Kurt played in the NFL. As a long-time NFL fan, Kurt Warner’s amazing career was wonderful to watch.
This movie captures all that and more. We get to see what was happening behind the scenes that enabled him to succeed on the field. Kurt had to take a job stocking shelves in a grocery store when his NFL dream never happened. He kept working hard and the only football team he was able to play on was in the AFL playing in the Arena stadiums.
He was finally given a chance to play, but was given the tough treatment by his coach. His great attitude propelled him to persevere and show his greatness. He led his team to win the Super Bowl and win the NFL MVP twice. He’s now in the Hall of Fame and is well-respected and a leader.
I loved the movie and even if you don’t love football you’ll love the story of his family, romance, and faith. It doesn’t focus primarily on faith, but shows how he came to love God through the faith of his wife.
